The word Dharkar comes from the Hindi words “dhar” meaning rope and “kar” meaning manufacturer, denoting their occupation which was making crackers for celebration in festivals, Bamboo Baskets and field work in Agriculture. The Dharkar are found mainly in Gorakhpur ,Basti, Gonda ,lucknow, Deoria , Banras, Azamgarh, Gazipur, Balia,Mau, Allahabad Districts and other parts of India Like Bihar, MadhyaPradesh, Maharashtra, West Bangal, Gujarat and Uttrakhand. The Dharkar speaks Hindi, Awadhi, Bhojpuri.

Dharkar Community mostly found in Uttar Pradesh , In other State due to minority Dharkar included in other castes category .
Dharkar Caste is divided in three categories 1st that only work Farm land 2nd in making of Fire Crackers use in festivals and 3rd make artwork and articles making like basket etc from Bamboo & Bet for Religious and Puja use. Bamboo article work makes other caste also but real Dharkar identify, mostly lives in main abadi area of town villages & they make from their homes only.
The Dharkar are strictly endogamous community, they belong to King Benu and King Karush Kshatriya. The Dharkar are having their own land, and are involved mainly in the manufacturing of crackers, bamboo / bet (cane wood) baskets and mats. Each of their settlement contains an informal caste council, known as a Biradari Panchayat. Now-a-days they are very strong and they are highly educated, they are into Medical, Engineering, Scientist, Actor, Writer, Politician Top Bureaucratic etc.
Objective:The Object and motive behind launching this site is to provide a forum to all Dharkars, Take their suggestions. Take note of their grievance so far as possible and help them with the Net work of Dharkar at right place, and get together community on one stage unity.
